Hi everyone,
My company has now finally moved to the point where I have a couple of other employees. I now have a person who is handling all of our invoicing and purchases.
The problem is, people often email their questions to the wrong department (example, I get invoicing questions, the invoicing lady gets technical questions). What we’ve been doing is simply forwarding these emails to one another through outlook express. However, this might work right now, but as the company gets bigger this will obviously be a bit cumbersome. Is there a better platform we can use besides outlook express to manage multiple email addresses for a company?
One of the problems with Outlook is also we can’t see other correspondence one of us has had with a customer. It would be nice to have a platform where we could easily review the email history with a customer.
So basically, my question is: what do small-medium sized companies generally use to manage their email?
Hi all,
Just wondering about this, but I’m looking to create something similar to www.graze.com where the user selects a certain product and pays for it, which then gives them a monthly subscription where they can choose the date which their product is sent.
This obviously will send an email to us on the date which they choose (or 5 days before) so we can send them the product (and it automatically charges paypal)
the reason I’m looking at ecommerce solutions is because there will be a variety of products (and I sort of want something semi off the shelf which will be easily modded as I’m more of a front end guru than a back end!)
Any suggestions welcome

I’m working as a project manager on a site with an Etsy-like shopping cart setup (allowing users to sell their products and taking a small percentage of the sale).
While I expect my developer to answer this question, I figure it can’t hurt to ask if anyone recommends specific gems for such a shopping set-up in RoR or financial reporting.
I have done a simple Ecommerce site in the past. It was for a book that could either be digitally downloaded or a hard copy purchased and I used PayPal for the hard copy and payloadz.com for the eBook copy. Nice and simple. Now I have a client that sells custom baseball bats. He has 4 different models that come in various sizes and colors. I have looked at a lot of Ecommerce shopping carts that all seem way to complicated to learn quickly. I would need it to be easy to add to the existing site http://foxdenwebsolutions.com/haagbatcompany/index.html. I think some sort of dropdown choices would be the best bet for choosing the model, size, and color. Then this information would feed over to PayPal (because that is what the client wants to use). That is not a problem as I can easily set that up. Can this be done with a simple form? Do I really need a database? I do not know PHP very well so I am not sure that this is the proper solution to my problem. I am really not sure where to begin and what would be the best way to handle this. Could someone give me some starting point so that I can start on the shopping cart? Thanks.
What are your guys thoughts on this? My company is considering it as an option due to the fact that anyone who files a dispute on a charge the credit card company will pretty much just issue a refund almost every time.
By digital signature I’m referring to a box where a buyer types their own name representing their signature for the credit card.
Hi All,
Are there any other popular store review websites out there like the bizrate’s site?
I like bizrate’s platform, but I don’t like some of the marketing strategies they employ on my customers.
Thanks!
Dave
First, I love Linux. I know it is better than Windows. I am not looking for reasons to go with Linux over Windows. However, I am looking for a shopping cart that supports/works on a WAMP server or a WIMP server. Looking for one that would support/work with:
- Windows
- Apache or IIS
- MySQL
- PHP or .Net.
I am trying to avoid one that requires MS SQL. I could give my reasons on Windows but that is another story.
I have a feeling I won’t get any answers to this post? Or a recommendation to look at the Wikipedia comparison which I have look at but haven’t found one yet.
Thanks,
Chris
Hi All,
A client of mine wants to be able to accept money on his site, then automatically send a percentage of that to another, variable paypal account. Is this possible? I have never written a paypal ecommerce system using the pro version so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
I have developed a RSS feed for my products in my store. I was wondering, if it would be a good idea to include product images in the feed or if I should only include product titles?
Including images would mean that the customers dont have to visit the site, which could potentially mean losing cross sell traffic as well as lower traffic for the site. Not including them means, less convenience for the customer.
Suggestions welcome.
