Deleting Round Edges

This instruction in a tutorial says:

With the Rounded rectangle tool(U),radius of 5px,draw a shape of 125px width and 55px height and delete from the right side,the 2 rounded corners of 5px.

Problem is, I do not know how to go about deleting the round corners. Can anybody help?

Site Critique Request

I’ve always considered myself more of a developer than a designer. However, I really enjoy learning about design … it just doesn’t come natural to me. I would appreciate it if you took a look at the attached screenshots and gave me some feedback. I’d love feedback on colors, layout, and general design. The website is supposed to have a corporate/techy look to it, but also has to be very simple to use.

Illustrator Help – Cut out a section?

I downloaded the Illustrator trial and I am already hitting a stump. I come from a heavy Photoshop background. I am trying to do something that should be extremely easy but I cannot figure out how to do it!

I have 2 circles on the screen. One white and one black. I want to take the white one and basically cut out its outline from the black one. In other words I lay the white over the black. And I want to cut it out of the one behind it.

In photoshop you simply highlight the top one and click delete on the layer with the second circle. In illustrator I cannot for the life of me figure it out!

Any help is appreciated it. I attached images to show what I am trying to do.

I want to cut the selected item out of the item behind it.

Font Problem Please help

I installed thousands of fonts on my mac. Photoshop now hangs and at the very best runs very slow.

I opened Font Book and turned off 90% of the fonts. The problem is that Photoshop keeps loading all these fonts.

How do I stop Photoshop from loading all my fonts?

Do I have to uninstall all my fonts?

colorising an image for CMYK print?

HI all,

Theres an image which i used on the website, which now needs to be in CMYK print version.
(see attached)

What i did before was just change the hue/saturation of the photo in fireworks to kinda match the blue behind it.

Can anyone let me know the steps to colorise this photo again for CMYK print in Photoshop?
(to a specific CMYK colour that ive chosen in CMYK book? – it looks different on screen)

Copyright over images and logos?

I will like to make a logo for myself and clients, but I’m not sure about copyrights and how do I ensure that its uniqueness, I mean I may come up with, but what if it looks like somebody else’s. Any help. I live in the US and perjury is a big deal so I want to make sure I don’t get in trouble.
