This is just driving me nuts. Could you guys take a look at my site in Explorer and tell me if you’re seeing what I’m seeing a mauve background to my main image? You can view it here semicodin.mysite.com
Thanks. I’ve tweaked and retweaked the graphic. It looks great in FF but IE just butchers it.

I’m currently creating a web site so that I can advertise myself as a dog walker to my local area. I’m still learning CSS and furthering my XHTML knowledge to do so. I already have a lot I’m dealing with right now with just CSS.
I’m thinking it might be best to pay someone to create a logo for me. I’m terrible at drawing. I need a logo with my website name and a graphic of a man walking a dog with it. What would you do if you were me? Tough it out and learn how to do it myself? This going to take time, though. I can’t even sketch on paper.
I’ve got a lot of stuff on my plate to do like finishing this website. And then I need to start advertising. Or do you think it’s possible with the right tutorials that I can do this? I decided to learn CSS just so I wouldn’t have to pay a designer to do it. I also thought it would be good to further my web skills, maybe even one day be a web designer myself. But getting my own dog walking business up and running is first priorty right now. I have Photoshop CS3, but I’m at Beginner Level with it. If someone could please put me in the right direction with this I’d appreciate it.
I would like to know how to create the drawing attached in photoshop, specifically the banner with rugged texture and torn edges. Any links to a good tutorial appreciated
Creating eye-catching hi-tech collages
This lesson shows the process of making a hi-tech collage for a car website.
Below you will find a step by step description of building a hi-tech collage, suitable for websites of any theme.
This lesson is aimed at designers with basic Adobe Photoshop skills.

Create a new document, 800×200 pixels in size.
Apply black and white gradient to the new layer, indicating the line of the horizon.
Set transparency to 60%.
For the background you can use any very blurred image, color or monochrome.

Create a new layer and fill it with a black- to- transparent gradient, from right to left.

Create a new layer and fill it with a black- to- transparent gradient, from left to right.

Select a suitable picture of a car or any other object fitting your theme.

Paste the picture of the auto in the document, adjust its size.

Apply a mask on this layer.
Use a brush tool to conceal the borders between the picture and the background.
This one is the shadow layer.

On the initial picture of the car, separate the object from the background with the help of Polygonal Lasso Tool.

Place the cut-out automobile in the document, over the shadow layer, then unite the images.

Create a white 50×50 pixels large-celled grid under the layer containing the cars, with the help of Pencil Tool, 1px in diameter.

Apply a mask to the layer with the grid.
Conceal the parts of the grid with the help of a large soft brush, if necessary.

Likewise, create a smaller 10×10 pixels grid.
Apply a mask to the layer, conceal the parts of the grid with a brush.
Set the blending mode for the layer “Lighter color” and interior capacity 10%.

On the crossings of the grid lines, draw blurred 3×3 pixels dots.
Apply a mask to the layer and work a bit with the brush tool.

Take a picture of a lightning.

Convert the picture to grayscale.
Create a clear contrast of the image with the help of Brightness/Contrast.
Separate the lightning from the background with the help of Select > Color Range.
Drag it under the layer with cars, rotate it and adjust the size.
Set the blending mode «Vivid Light» and interior capacity 30% for this layer.

To create the effect of glowing, copy the lightning background and blur it.
Repeat the operation.
Set a higher degree of blurring.
For these layers, set a «Normal» blending mode and Fill=100%.
Experiment with the blending mode and transparency to achieve greater effect.

Take a picture of a car speedometer.

Cut light-colored pixels and place them in the document (the way you did with the lightning).

Highlight parts of the car, «switch on» the headlights.

Add the title of the site in large letters, select the font, add smaller writings and a dividing line.
Your hi-tech collage is ready!

I’ve been having a problem for a little while now assigning four keyboard shortcuts for a custom tool, I was hoping there was a way you could trigger a layer of keyboard shorts ontop of the original photoshop keyboard short cuts for example you would hit ALT-F6 and then you could then use your custom keyboard short cuts because it’s next to impossible to get the keyboard short cuts you specifically want in photoshop.
I am trying to wrap text around an image but I cannot get the image to display in Internet Explorer. I tried using two scripts with the same results:
I even tried removing the height and width info from the script to see if that made a difference but it didn’t.
The image displays correctly in FireFox. However, for some strange reason, the image doesn’t appear in in Windows Explorer. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can correct this problem? Thanks.

Hello,
I want to create diagonal text in Photoshop. This is what I’ve been doing:
I’ll create an HTML page, with say, “Test” written in the center. I will then print the screen and bring it to Photoshop.
When I go to Photoshop, I’ll paste it, and then go Image -> Rotate Canvas -> Arbitrary -> 45 CCW. But when the image gets rotated, the text becomes all pixelated.
How can I keep the text nice and clean and crisp when I go to rotate it?
Thanks.

i have a bunch of pictures that i would like to display together, but they are very different dimensions.. if the width is uniform then the landscape ones look half the size of some of the vertical ones.. and even among all the vertical ones there is variation.. it got me wondering.. is there any tool or simple method of taking a batch of pictures and giving the same overall area? (preferably with a maximum height/width as well just to keep things under some control).
If not.. someone should make one! hehe.
