Amounts credited to paypal ?
Have never used paypal for crediting my account, only paying out and when I pay by paypal, it comes out of my credit card. If I setup paypal on my site, for others to pay me (hopefully), would this mean that my credit card would receive the money, if someone paid me through paypal ? I know it’s a noob question for most of you here, but we’ve all got to start somewhere.

Best UK Hosted E-Commerce provider?
Hi,
I am a front end developer who is looking to set up his first e-commerce site for a client. Because I am only familiar with front end development I am looking to use a Hosted Solution.
My client has only four products and will only sell to customers in the UK.
I was originally considering Shopify but don’t really know if I like their set up.
One that I did like the look of was BigCommerce but I hear it’s not too good for UK based businesses as thier servers are in the US (SEO problems) and also some kind of problem with the VAT on their system.
Can anyone advise what would be a good solution for a small UK business?
I also need the site to accept all of the usual credit cards, would this be a problem with US based solutions?

can i setup auto payments so users can topup there funds using google checkout?
hi everyone
basically i have a subscription service and my users have a wallet on my site that they use through-out the month, what i want to do is setup a auto top if the balance falls bellow $5.
can i achieve this with Google checkout?

Let me try and explain this the best I can. This is my ideal e-commerce process:
I would like to have paypal or someone else allow me to have someone pay me for a service online and when that person pays they are automatically added into my database. So that they can login and look at the information I provide.
How can I make this happen or is there something similar that I can use that would allow a user to pay first and then they are put into my database?

Seriously… why?
I’ve recently started a job that does a lot of ecommerce work. As platforms for e-commerce sites they use Miva and OsCommerce.
I know OSCom has the advantage of being open source, but even then there are huge drawbacks.
But Miva… what the ()*”£. From a developers POV its the worst thing i’ve ever came across. Its so basic, and to make it worse its compiled using ‘mivascript’ so even then i’m restricted heavily to the point where I can do nothing to maintain and extend the platform. Everything is about Miva is just nasty in my opinion.
I’ve looked at various stores using the platforms and the majority of them look like they were produced in the late 90s.
I recently downloaded the latest version of OSCom and when I installed it and went to the page, i was faced with line after line of errors. What? Why?
Does anyone still use these platforms (apart from my employer)? Can anyone offer any recommendations on how to extend/improve/etc the platforms? BTW i’m not learning ‘mivascript’

Your opinion: Magento, is it simple or not?
Hello SitePoint members,
I’d like to ask all of you who have experience in using Magento or have developed shops with it some questions about the simplicity of the platform. I’m always pitching Magento to my clients and have never seriously used any other ecommerce platform since I believe Magento has been the most suitable choice for all of the cases I’ve come across so far.
The questions I would love to hear your opinions on are actually very simple and they are only two so they shouldn’t take up many minutes of your time. I would be very grateful if you could share your opinion of the Magento interface from you point of view.
Note: These questions are about the user-friendliness of the front and admin sections and not the development hassle of the platform, which I’m well aware of. 
Do you and/or your customers/clients believe the Magento checkout and order process is simple and “idiot-proof”?
Do you and/or your customers/clients believe the admin area is “idiot-proof”, i.e. simple to use?
This regards adding products, categories, attributes, attribute sets, handling filters and so on.
Any other opinions regarding Magento is of course also appreciated. Basically, I would love to hear your opinion on the simplicity of the Magento platform from the perspective of you and/or your clients/customers. It would be very helpful and greatly appreciated!
